I think it is great to be in such a position to help as many people, in a meaningful way, as you can. But let us not forget that we don’t have to be billionaires to make a difference in someone’s life.

Hi, Just found your blog and I really enjoy it.

I lot of people I know “rip” on the “rich” especially the super rich like Bill Gates. It’s nice to see you acknowledging that they give a lot back. The same is true for most wealthy people. People need to stop complaining and seeking handouts and start trying to change things – one small step at a time.

@Dogatemyfinances, Couldn’t agree more. Most charities ‘ought’ to be run more along those lines. Maybe we would see more progress from a lot of charities that don’t seem to have any results (not to pick on Jerry Lewis, but the Muscular Dystrophy telethon he hosts has been pulling in an average $40-50 Million a year for as long as I can remember, and you ’still’ don’t hear very much about any advances in MD, even though they’ve received more than $2 billion in donations over the years.)

I know it’s tremendously difficult to find cures for diseases, but there should be ’some’ advances.
