Yes, I agree with Randall, AGAIN. I will be looking for a new job soon and not only do I have to deal with a tough market, I have to fill out long stupid applications and also be told that my credit will be a factor in my hiring. I don't know if they really use that as hiring criteria or if it is a scare tactic, (and I would like feedback if anyone knows if they really check it or not), but it PISSES ME OFF. My credit is average--nothing more, nothing less. I shouldn't have to deal with that issue when it comes to gaining employment. My credit score shouldn't be counted as a factor in determining my car insurance. IT PISSES ME OFF. And yeah, it is true, there is no ideal world here, either. Not by a long shot. But I take every opportunity to get over on the man every chance I get.

[...] Just recently I got a big boost from Glblguy over at Gather Little By Little. His encouragement and help had me garnering more readers in a day, than I had been able to get alone during the entire previous time I’d been writing. I still remember the day that a deluge of traffic started coming in on one of the articles he referenced (Rebuttal: Putting Credit Cards to Work for You (GP)). [...]

Plonkee,
Didn't mean to dismiss it, I just think the article gave too much weight to insurance based on FICO/Credit score. I shop around every year to see what's out there. (See Aaah, Love that New Car Insurance Smell) and I do try to keep the credit score healthy. I just don't see the connection between paying bills and getting in accidents.

Yep, no ideal world here either.

I think you're a little too hasty to dismiss the insurance issue. I think it's a good idea to shop around for insurance and take all the necessary steps to ensure that you get the best deal. If that means keeping a reasonable credit score so be it.

As for the job stuff, in an ideal world your credit score wouldn't be important, but we don't live in an ideal world.
